The Sons and Daughters of Abel and Catherine Reese

Levi, the oldest, born on December 25, 1836. He married Mary A. Dillman, who died on April 22, 1872, and is buried in the old Woodring Cemetery. He later married Telitha. He had a total of 12 children. Levi lived in Reese Hollow where Fred Bowers now lives. It is unclear if the house was torn down or burned. Levi died on December 20, 1899, reportedly as a result of falling from a wagon. However, rumor has always persisted that he was drinking and got into a fight in Tyrone. He is buried in Black Oak Cemetery.

John was born on April 12, 1838. In 1866, he married Lucinda Shay and settled in Reese Hollow. He built the house where Ron Reese now lives. John and Lucinda had fourteen children. Seven lived to be adults. John died on August 28, 1914 and is buried at Mount Pleasant.

Christian was born on October 22, 1840. January 9, 1873, Christian married Cathrine Williams. They settled in Reese Hollow on a tract of land he purchased at a sheriff sale. This is the home that [was] owned by Clyde and L. M. Reese, Jr. Christian and Cathrine had twelve children, all living to be adults. Christian died on August 2, 1912 and is buried in Black Oak Cemetery.

Denis was born on July 23, 1842. In 1865 he married Margaret Decauter. They lived in Reese Hollow for a short time. They purchased land in Taylor Township in 1873 and lived there the rest of their lives. They had 11 children. Denis died on September 16, 1885 and is buried at Mount Pleasant.

Lucy was born on June 4, 1844. She married Joseph Cowher. They lived in Reese Hollow where L. M. Reese, Jr. live[d]. They had 10 children. Lucy died on December 17, 1900 and is buried in Black Oak Cemetery.

Delilah was born on November 6, 1847. She married Matthew Adams and settled in Reese Hollow on land deeded to her by Abel Reese. The place is now owned by Walter Striedieck. They had nine children. Delilah died in 1924 and is buried in Black Oak Cemetery.

Eve was born on August 26, 1849. She married Christian Sharer. They lived in Taylor Township at the head of Bell Hollow along Allegheny Mountain. They had 14 children. Eve died in 1932 and is buried at Mount Pleasant.

Reuben was born in 1851. He married Cathrine Carrier in 1876. They lived in Reese Hollow in the house owned by the late Gilbert Adams, who was a grandson. They had six children. Reuben committed suicide on August 14, 1885. He is buried at Mount Pleasant.

Oliver Perry was born on July 24, 1858. He generally went by Perry, but sometimes used the initials O. P. He married Marian Meek and lived in Reese Hollow on a 40-acre parcel deeded to him in 1890 by Abel Reese. This is the parcel where Rodney Reese now lives. In later years, he purchased the Levi Reese property and built a house and lived there until he died in 1922. They had one son, Raymond. Perry is buried in Black Oak Cemetery.
